Digital Social Media Management

I am assigned to facilitate a workshop in Asia Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference 2011.

APRRC FINAL PROGRAM
Digital Social Media Management

Participants will discuss the impact of new digital media specifically
penetrating on social networks, its importance in public
relations campaigns, and relevant strategies for Rotaract club and district
promotion.

Facilitators: PDRR Devie Ontolan (Philippines) and PDRR Flo Espiritu (Philippines)

Things to research:
1. Topic coverage
2. How to be a good facilitator

Initially, I have found researches and videos on how to and why choose Social Media for Rotary Clubs. I am now analyzing that, in Rotaract, it should be more on “moderation” or engagement control. I will surely post after workshop insights.

See you in APRRC Subic

Hands: Called to Serve II Concert (Black Light Theater)

Citimotors Makati Auditorium

Lead Performers: Rotaract Club of STI College-Makati (RI D3810) and Rotaract Club of Makati (RI D3830)

Rotaract is a youth service program of Rotary International that began in 1968. All over the world, young men and women are drawn together in Rotaract clubs which help them develop personally and professionally while they offer invaluable service to their communities.

In the spirit of friendship and service, Rotaractors across the Philippines are able to work together under the Pilipinas Multi-District Information Organization (MDIO). As this Rotary Year comes to a close, Pilipinas MDIO decided to take part in Gawad Kalinga’s mission of eradicating poverty by contributing to the Brookside Gawad Kalinga Village in Quezon City.

In line with this, the MDIO is organizing a blacklights* concert to raise funds for the abovementioned endeavor and other Philippine Rotaract activities.

*Black Light Theater is a theatrical production style characterized by the use of visual illusions. It uses the distinctive characteristics of a darkened stage, black clothing, fluorescent gloves and props, and black light lamps.

Tickets are available at P50.00. For Rotaractors, please contact your resepective DRRs. This is an open to all event.

Loveless and Dominant

Yesterday was my first Rotaract meeting for 2010. It was funny how to work out again with familiar faces with different strong personalities. There were five (5) out seven (7) District MDIO members present.

Some positive observations:
1. Issues are still objectively resolved
(In fact, many items were resolved!)
2. Tolerance to dominant and awkward personalities is still applied
3. Fellowship is worth just P5.00
(Videoke)
4. Concerns about unity still persist
5. You can never be loveless during Valentines if you are a Rotaractor
(A Hot Air Balloon group date in Subic is planned this Feb 12-14, 2010)

Some negative observations:
1. There are facial and oral expressions not befitting in conducting a meeting
2. There are behaviors that’s fine with current setup but I can see are not healthy especially when you are not dealing with your own district only
3. Unprepared items needed for the meeting like previous copy of amendments and minutes of the meeting
4. Late snacks

Now, I’m thinking of drafting a guide on how to conduct an MDIO meeting. This guide will be both for the organizers and participants. Things are manageable and tolerable for now, but I can imagine how about for the next years. As I reiterate, MDIO should unite and not divide the ten districts!

TOP 10 REASONS IN ATTENDING CHRISTMAS PARTIES GALORE

I realized that I have always attended so many Christmas Parties every December and an extended ones in January. Below is my list of “TOP 10” reasons in enjoying hopping around Christmas parties:

-I love prizes even the corny ones :)…
-I am always lucky at raffle prizes!!!
This is since elementary days.
-I have grown so much in Rotaract that Christmas parties mean club, district, national and members’ families and companies partiesssss levels…
This is aside from Rotaract and Rotary categories. Normally, I have an average of 6 Rotary-Rotaract Christmas parties every December. I just don’t know yet if this will change next year when I finally get married:).
-I like the ambiance where everybody seems to have time to enjoy free time and be nice to all.
-A venue where I can be updated with members’ “what’s and why’s”.
I’m not really a conversation provoking species but I like hearing the latest life happenings, especially the accomplishments.
-Sometimes, I like dressing up for the party “themes”.
-I have an opportunity to introduce new club members in a bigger group.
I normally tag along club members to join beyond club level parties. This way, they too can enjoy a bigger crowd party. This also helps them knowing and building beyond club friendships. Sometimes, good project ideas spark out of the conversations.
- I will have new games ideas for my next possible party hosting in other “parties”.

-I feel safe while I can enjoy the party.
I really don’t feel comfortable bumping into a stranger whom I have no personal connection or clue at all. In Rotaract, everyone and everything is personally related to me.:)
-I simply love taking pictures!
Maybe I should include in my plan buying professional camera and taking photography lessons.

What are your reasons in attending Christmas Parties?

Selecting events to attend…

Summer vacation also means various and lots of Rotary and Rotaract events. I came to the point that I should select events to attend either as participant, organizer or resource speaker.

How I wish I can attend all as I love to, but I realized, my resources and talents will be utilized better if properly segmented with the right events.

Below is my guide on how to decide over invitations:

*Exclusion:
When you are an incumbent President, wherein all activities and events are, in a sense, must be participated and attended to.

So how do you decide over invitations?
