ROTARACT CLUB OF DILIMAN'S TEAMBUILDING / PLANNING / DRR'S VISIT
Villa Virginia Resort, Taktak, Antipolo City
May 24-25, 2008
A marathon day! Truly it was a marathon for RAC Diliman for having conducted teambuilding, planning and DRRs' visit in one schedule and venue. Nice concept of integrating all activities in one event.
Basic event structure that made it successful:
1. Pre-planning
I guess, the worst thing with club planning is not to come-up with concrete calendar for the whole year after the event. The day was fruitful because of pre-planning ahead of the event. The group had agreed possible proposed projects.
2. Orientation on Strategic Planning
a. SWOT Analysis and SMART tools really helped.
3. Planning
a. I handled this using the RI Calendar with balance through Rotary and Rotaract events and schedules considerations both at the RI, District and club levels. After, categorizing according to avenues of service, priority and unique projects of the club were given emphasis and placed first in the calendar for the whole year
4. Teambuilding
Full support of the sponsoring Rotary Club of Diliman was visible. There was great inputs from Rotary Club Trainer with knowledge about Rotaract procedures.
Matched with the expert resource speaker and facilitators were the responsive and smart members.
On a personal note, I was a bit restless and tired though I didn’t put all my energy for the training. I guess, I’m not used to “overnights” anymore after trying to relax and “hide away” my schedule from Rotaract events to revitalize my health.

PHILIPPINE ROTARACTORS CELEBRATE 40TH WORLD ROTARACT WEEK
PHILIPPINE ROTARACTORS CELEBRATE 40TH WORLD ROTARACT WEEK
The Philippine celebration of this year’s World Rotaract Week culminated as rotaractors and rotarians from seven districts gathered in Marikina Sports Complex last March 16, 2008.
With the theme “RAC Life Begins @ 40”, the multi-district event honored the chartering of the first Rotaract Club in North Carolina, USA in March 13, 1968, forty years ago.
Chaired by DRR Adette Arce of District 3800, rotaractors from Districts 3780, 3790, 3810, 3820, 3830 and 3860 flocked the sports complex for a night of fellowship, fun and a showcase of talents as participating districts had their presentations.
The gathering highlighted the recognition of outstanding Rotaract alumni, whose invaluable contribution to Philippine Rotaract’s development and their professional achievements brought inspiration to the young rotaractors in their respective districts. Majority of the awardees are former rotaractors and now rotarians.
The awardees were:
PE Johnny Yu, PDRR/ PP Theresa Sula, and PDRR/Rtn. Edwin Marcos of D3780;
PP Gigi Estalilla, of D3790; Rtr. Paolo H. Rivera, PP Enrique G. Santos, DRC Perfecto Bernad and DGE Virgilo Farcon, of D3800; SDG Edison “Magic” Ong, of D3810,
PP Andy Abuso, of D3820, and Mr. Joel Mallillin, of D3830.
Gracing the event and delivered their messages of inspiration were D3800 Governor, DG Marcos Hermoso and Marikina Vice Mayor Marion Andres.
Every year, Rotaract Clubs worldwide celebrate the World Rotaract Week (WRW) by partnering with their sponsoring Rotary clubs through different activities and projects.

MDIO ELECTION PROCEDURES
As the RY 2008-09 is fast approaching, it is timely to elect new set of officers / chair for interim MDIO Pilipinas. I know, it is too young but I guess, new leaders will mean more brains and energy to the group.
So far, I have feedback from Brazil. Guidelines set will be posted after drafts and approval from the group.
